Only one…
…more assessment to hand in (on Friday) and then I’m finished my degree. I can’t wait to move onto new adventures next year! I’m thinking of moving to a different uni for a years more study and working on developing Oak & Hide. I’d love to explore hardware/jewellery in more depth, I’m particularly interested in metal, resin and timber jewellery. I’d also like to look into laser cutting timber so I can develop my timber closures and handles a bit further.
I’ve been looking at Griffith uni because they have a Bachelor of Jewellery and Small Objects and I’ve heard great things about this course! (plus I admire the variety of projects undertaken in final year - eyewear, shoes, bags, jewellery….) I wish I had thought beyond fashion when I started uni. Although I love clothes and beautiful textiles I have no skill for sewing or pattern making and that made the first two years of this course difffffficult (lots of teary days). I’m going to miss everyone so much, our class is such an interesting mix of people from different backgrounds and over three years you get to know everyone like a little family. I hope everyone gets amazing jobs in Paris and New York and London like they deserve!
My goal for 2013 is to be more creative, study lots, experiment and launch Oak & Hide (in a very small way) by June next year!
