Recycled metals for shoe hardware
I knew I could source metals from Australian Jewellery Supplies in the city (they have sheets of Copper and Brass in varying thicknesses and dimensions) - what I didn’t know was that there are at least two companies in Brisbane who supply recycled metals.
The first one is called United Metals and they are in Murarrie. Denica, the sales assistant there was able to point me in the direction of some recycled copper, brass and bronze that they have in stock. The second is called Recycling Metal Industries in Archerfield, I spoke to Bill there and he has offcuts of copper and brass that you can pick and chose from. This type of repurposed materials is called ‘pre-consumer’ waste as it is the left over scrap from huge industry orders.
Once I’ve finished my assessment and things are a bit less hectic I will take a trip out there and pick us some materials for buckle development.
